Sanitation and Water for All

MWA works with others in the US-based WASH coalition to urge the US Department of State to assume full partnership in the Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) initiative launched by several governments. The US Government has played an important technical support role in the effort, and we encourage the Administration formally to join SWA as a full partner.

Representatives of countries already officially members of SWA will be meeting in Washington in late April in conjunction with the annual spring meeting of the World Bank. At this time, finance ministers, water resource ministers, and others from these governments and multi-lateral institutions will be in Washington to discuss how to move forward. We are pleased that DoS and USAID will play an active role in this important global meeting.

End Water Poverty

MWA is a member of End Water Poverty, a broad international coalition focusing public attention both in donor countries and in developing nations on the impact of poor water and sanitation. EWP pushes governments and multilateral institutions toward bolder action, and seeks to help civil society in developing nations become stronger advocates for improved WASH.

Global Water Forum, World Water Week

MWA participates in major international forums such as the Global Water Forum, this year held in March 2012 in Marseilles, France, and the annual autumn international conference marking World Water Week, in Stockholm, Sweden.
