Evidence Action Joins Millennium Water Alliance

June 17, 2025, Washington, DC / Nairobi, Kenya – The Millennium Water Alliance Board of Directors welcomes Evidence Action, a global non-profit with offices in Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Liberia, Nigeria, and the United States, as its 26th member organization.

Evidence Action saves and improves lives by scaling cost-effective solutions to neglected global health issues. The organization has been reaching millions of people in Africa and Asia with access to safe water for more than a decade through its Safe Water Now program, which uses evidence-based chlorination interventions to save lives and reduce the burden of poverty.

Kanika Bahl, CEO of Evidence Action said: “Evidence Action is proud to join the Millennium Water Alliance in our shared mission to reach the 2 billion people worldwide who lack access to safe water. This partnership creates an unprecedented opportunity to combine Evidence Action’s water treatment expertise with MWA’s diverse network of member organizations. Together, we will forge strategic collaborations that can dramatically expand our collective reach and accelerate progress toward ensuring safe water access for all.”

MWA CEO Keith Wright welcomed the group: “Evidence Action’s expertise in water treatment through chlorination is a valuable addition to the collective expertise of the MWA membership, particularly as MWA proves and scales models for results-based finance that require safe water delivery.”

Evidence Action is the fifth organization to join MWA this year, following Engineers Without Borders, RTI International, LifeStraw International, and Vita Impact.

The Millennium Water Alliance, founded in 2002, is one of the world’s leading collaborations in the sector, supporting its members through collective programming, shared learning, convening on best practices and technology, and advocacy to governments and other stakeholders for greater investment in global water security, sanitation, and hygiene.

MWA’s member organizations work in more than 100 countries around the world to bring safe drinking water, better sanitation, and improved hygiene practices to more than 50 million people every year.
