Millennium Water Alliance Learning Event – Opportunities in Finance and Policy to Support the Adoption of Early Warning Systems in ASAL Water Systems

We are excited to announce our upcoming learning event, “Opportunities in Finance and Policy to Support the Adoption of Early Warning Systems in ASAL Water Systems,” scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 from 3:00-4:30 pm EAT / 8:00-9:30 am EDT. This is the fourth event in our Resilient Arid Lands Partnership for Integrated Development Plus (RAPID+) Program Webinar Series. Click here to register.

Water systems in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) are under increasing pressure from climate variability, recurrent droughts, and episodic flooding. While significant progress has been made in strengthening climate and early warning systems (EWS) at the national and county levels, the application of this information in water system planning, operations, and maintenance remains limited. During the 2023 El Niño season, 90% of those affected by floods incurred damage to water supply and irrigation infrastructure.

The webinar, convened by the MWA RAPID+ program with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, will explore how finance and policy frameworks can better support the adoption and operationalization of EWS to enhance the resilience of water systems in ASAL counties.

The event is virtual and open to the public, and we encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about the adoption of EWS for water security to join us. Please click below to register. The event recording and materials will be added to this page following the conclusion of the event.
