Millennium Water Alliance Learning Event – Why Engaging Men and Boys Matters: Unlocking Progress for Gender Transformation

We are excited to announce our upcoming learning event, “Why Engaging Men and Boys Matters: Unlocking Progress for Gender Transformation,” scheduled for Wednesday, October 8 from 3:00–4:30 PM EAT / 8:00–9:30 AM EDT.

Gender inequality in Kenya’s drylands harms both women and men in different ways: women and girls shoulder heavy water collection burdens and face risks to safety, education, and livelihoods, while men and boys experience high mortality, loss of pastoral livelihoods, and heightened stress during droughts and conflict. The RAPID+ program (2021–2026), led by the Millennium Water Alliance and funded by SDC, tackles these challenges through various approaches, including the Engaging Men and Boys (EMB) approach. EMB creates spaces for reflection and dialogue that challenge harmful gender norms, promote positive masculinities, and strengthen women’s participation in decision-making around water and rangeland governance. This webinar will highlight why engaging men and boys is vital for gender transformation and resilience, sharing practical lessons from local context and global initiatives.

Please see the promotional flyer for additional details. The event is virtual and open to the public, and we encourage you to share this event with colleagues or partners who may be interested in attending.
