Improving sanitation in Maalimin village

Care\' KALDRR-WASH program intervene promotion of good hygiene behavior and sanitation as means of reducing waterborne disease. the program uses Community led total sanitation(CLTS)Methodology in improving sanitation coverage at household level this activity is implemented through community participation in collaboration with public health and sanitation departments. Maalimin village is one of CLTS program site located north of Garissa town.
The village is mainly inhibited by Somali community who pastoral dropout. before the program intervention the village was characterized by low sanitation coverage and poor hygiene practices. The community currently have improved knowledge on safe water, proper hygiene and sanitation behavior as result there is massive increase in Household latrine coverage.
