LOGO LOGO WATER MASTER PLAN AIMS FOR RESILIENCE

Posted Feb 10, 2014

Efforts towards increasing community resilience within Marsabit County are gaining momentum in the second year of the KALDRR WASH program.

This is due to the fact that FH with technical support from IRC facilitated a two day and half informative stakeholder workshop between 22nd and 24th January 2014 that saw the development of a ten year master plan for Logo Logo area.
Logo Logo is the 3R/MUS pilot area for FH Kenya under the KALDRR WASH program.

The water master plan aims to improve the water supply situation and enhance water resource and service management within the pilot area for sustainable water service provision.

The key stakeholders that participated in the workshop were from both Central and County government offices from Marsabit County particularly from the Ministries of Environment Water and Natural Resources, NEMA, WARMA, Health, Agriculture Irrigation and Fisheries and the Logo Logo Water Management Committee members, their local leaders and county representatives.

Actual water demands and water use for various livelihood interventions were highlighted with Specific gaps in water supply identified by the community representatives.

In addition key priority areas to be addressed in order to realise both short term and long term improved service delivery were jointly developed.

To this effect FH Kenya has embarked on fact finding missions to assess the feasible interventions that will contribute to the reduced water related shocks within Logo Logo thus help create the expected resilience.
