On Friday the 26th of July 2024, Millenium Water Alliance and Isiolo County Government represented by the CEC Water and the County Secretary, signed a partnership MOU for collaboration in the repair of selected boreholes in Isiolo. The partnership is aimed at increasing the uptime of boreholes and will be implemented under the DRIP FUNDI program – a partnership of USAID/BHA, Millenium Water Alliance, selected county governments in Kenya, and private sector entities. Increased uptime means that the selected boreholes in the county are operational making water/services available to water resource users.
Through DRIP FUNDI, Millenium Water Alliance in concerted efforts with private companies support the County Borehole Rapid Response Teams to ensure faster repair of 200 boreholes across Isiolo, Garissa, Marsabit, Turkana and Wajir. The increased uptime supports the generation of carbon financing that sustain the repair model. All the 200 boreholes are fitted with remote sensing devices installed and managed by Virridy Inc.
